Hetland Halls Top Tips for Newly Engaged Couples

Weddings

  1. Don’t assume you know what the other person wants

Before you dive in with wedding planning it is crucial that you communicate well with your other half. You may have in mind that one person in the relationship is more interested in wedding planning and selecting all the finer details however this is a big day for both of you! It’s highly likely that you will both have different visions for your wedding day, but you must communicate these to each other and meet somewhere in the middle. A fun way to tackle this is for you both to make lists of what you want most for your wedding. This should lead to you finding certain aspects which are most important to each of you and therefore you will both be able to take on certain elements of the planning process.

  1. Don’t Pick Your Wedding Party Straight Away

You will probably feel under pressure when it comes to selecting your wedding party and if you rush into these decisions, it may backfire. There are a lot of things to contemplate when making these choices such as how well will different people get along? Will anyone’s feelings get hurt? You must place careful consideration on these things and if it becomes too complicated the easiest way to do this may be to select fewer people who are closest to you such as siblings or other family members. The people around you will be understanding of your position and by taking your time with the decision you will be less likely to face further difficulties down the line.

  1. Take Engagement Photos

Capture this blissful time in your lives, it will be great to look back on as you and your partner grow old together. Professional engagement shots can also be great to use on things like save the date cards and to have around your home. If you do choose to go with a professional photographer this is also a great ‘taster session’ for your big day. You will be able to build a relationship with the photographer and they will be able to work with you more effectively when the wedding day arrives.

  1. You don’t have to take everyone’s advice

It is inevitable that everyone around you will start to share their thoughts and ideas on your wedding. You must remember that there is no right and wrong when it comes to wedding planning, this is an event which should be completely personal to you and therefore outside opinions and advice is not always necessary. By all means, go to those around you for help and advice if you require it but don’t feel pressured to do things in a certain way, just find what works for you and enjoy every minute of the process with your other half!

  1. Don’t Spend Every Minute Planning

Finally, don’t get too caught up in the planning! You may find this difficult as there is so much to do and so many options available, but we urge you to try and avoid stress as much as possible. Take your time and enjoy this new chapter of your life, maintain regular date nights with your other half and keep nurturing your lovely partnership, you have so much to look forward to!
